AHIRC, the Artists Health Insurance Resource Center, is a comprehensive online database of local and national information and resources for artists, in conjunction with The Actors Fund. This resource unites disparate health resources through a system of data-sharing, and disseminates the aggregated content through either through any website in the network. At root, AHIRC is a tool that will allow artists to go to a trusted, familiar site, and find all of the resources that are currently available to help them care for themselves and their families.
ArtistsUnitedForHealthCare.org
In California, LINC has teamed up with The Center for Cultural Innovation to create ArtistsUnitedForHealthCare.org, an advocacy website to educate artists about the current health care policy debates in California, and to mobilize artists, helping them to take an active role in this legislation process.
LINC has partnered with Bay Area technology firm Civic Actions, to create the Art Space Developers Tool. Using revolutionary search technology, this tool organizes and publishes information about successful, innovative art spaces from around the country. Each profile contains information about the development, financing, and outcome of the project, information that will prove invaluable to artists and developers looking for examples and inspiration to create their own space for artists. This tool, along with resources and information we have compiled on developing, constructing, and maintaining artist space will be disseminated to the public at large through the Knowledgeplex site.
Cultural Vitality on Knowledgeplex
To develop strategies for lasting impact on the supply and affordability of artist space, LINC turned to Fannie Mae, a national expert on affordable housing and community development projects, for guidance. Out of this conversation, LINC has teamed with Knowledgeplex, an online resource center for affordable housing and community development, and The Urban Institute, a nonpartisan economic and social policy research organization, to create a Cultural Vitality section on the Knowledgeplex site. This section, based on The Urban Institute’s Arts & Cultural Indicators Project, will offer cultural and community data within a theoretical framework, invaluable to many organizations working in the arts and cultural development.
